| I am using Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2007. I have one folder where I wish to file all incoming email from a large list of senders (marketing, newsletters, etc.) I have been adding to the list, but the list itself, as displayed in Outlook Rules, seems to have maxed out at 3410 characters. What does this mean?

| Microsoft imposes size limits on rules that can be created - typically 32KB. For example, a rule to move messages into a folder for a single recipient takes about 660 bytes. Therefore, there is no defined limit for the maximum number of rules that can be assigned to a folder. Typically, the limit is between 40 and 50 rules per folder. Are you using the Automatic filing by sender feature? If so, could you find our rules in Outlook under Tools->Rules and Alerts. It should be named “AOF_MoveTo_”<foldername>. Modify the rule and try to add another sender to the “from sender” list. It may be that we have exceeded the limit in Outlook. Currently we use one rule for each file to folder, and it appears we have hit a limit on the number of senders we compare against in the rule.
